State troopers responded to the Adamec Road business in Willington on Tuesday, Jan. 8, just after 7 p.m. to a chaotic scene. About 20 people were attempting to break up a melee between the three men and the victim, state police reported.

Witnesses told troopers the three men were being rowdy and disruptive, but when the alleged victim asked them to quiet down, the group attacked him, police said.

Surveillance video shows Baylor Lapointe, 29, of Wethersfield, and Joseph Reilly, 26, of Tolland, physically assaulting the elderly man, while John Browdy, 26, of Manchester, threw a glass object that shattered on the victim’s head, causing a severe injury, troopers said. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for treatment.

Browdy faces charges of assault in the second degree on an elderly victim and breach of peace in the second degree. He was released on a $20,000 bond, officials said.

Lapointe and Reilly were each charged with assault in the third degree on an elderly victim and breach of peace in the second degree. Both men were released on $5,000 bonds, state police added.
